My name is Doug Ottersberg and not so long ago I was living in an old 2 bedroom, 1 bath mobile home with my wife and children.
You see, several years before I had started a new career as a real estate investor, and I had bought into the idea (programming) that in order to become wealthy I had to “sacrifice” and “live below my means”.
While there may be some merit to that … my opinion now it was just “bad programming!”
You’ll see why I believe this as you continue to read this letter.
Back when I was living in the mobile home, I can still remember the time my daughter Gabriella and her friend were playing and the friend said, “let’s go play in your room.”
Gaby said, “room?”
Her friend replied, “Yeah, you know, where do you sleep?”
Gaby pointed to the living room floor where she and her older brother slept each night on blankets and sleeping bags, because my wife and I used one of the bedrooms and the other served as our office.
I’ll never forget the look on my baby girl’s face when her friend looked at her like she was some kind of weirdo.
Ouch! That was like a knife to my heart! I had to go out to the garage so the girls and my wife wouldn’t see the tears welling up in my eyes!
I felt humiliated and ashamed because I couldn’t even provide my precious children their own bedroom.
Are We Doomed to Repeat the Programs
of Our Forbears? I Know I Sure Did!
As for my childhood… well… let’s just say that my parents were a “typical” hard working Midwestern couple. Concerns about money were always there because while we weren’t poor, we just didn’t have much.
Growing up I learned that “you have to work hard to just get by”, and “Life is tough, and you have to learn to live without because that’s all we can afford”
Even though I was doing “ok” as a real estate investor I realized I was still unsatisfied! I was living in that mobile home and couldn’t provide my children with their own rooms.
Now don’t think I was a total wreck! I did my best to keep an open mind and be thankful for what I did have, but I just couldn’t hide the fact that I was miserable! Even though I was “kinda” making some money then, I still felt like a loser.
I was getting more and more distressed, more frustrated and downright depressed. I just knew I was missing something … My gut said that there had to be something more. I told myself that there must be a better way to make everything easy, faster and better!

Uncovering The ‘Secret’ Behind ‘The Secret’ …
Back then I didn’t know what I was looking for … but something told me that I wouldn’t find it in my mobile home park.
So, I went with my ‘gut’ and off I went on my journey to search for the answers to achieving my dreams.
Eventually the day came when I had a “magic moment”, just like the one you’re having right now! Here was my magic moment: I saw a hypnotist perform at a real estate seminar I was attending.I was amazed!
After watching his presentation on the power of the mind, I immediately began studying everything I could find about the mind, especially the “law of attraction”
I read just about every book that came my way such as:
- “As A Man Thinketh”
- “Think and Grow Rich”
- “Acres of Diamonds”

In short, I became a man on a mission. In addition to reading, I also went to a lot of seminars and other training sessions, in fact I studied so much that I became a professional clinical hypnotherapist myself and eventually went on to work with the very same hypnotist that had first introduced me to these concepts, teaching others the very same lessons he had taught me, as well as working on my own to spread the word about what I’d found.

Sounds easy, right?
But there’s a problem … this is what I stumbled upon … the ‘secret’ behind “The Secret.” This is what “The Secret” and all the other law of attraction guides have for the most part left out … until now, that is!
You see, when you think and focus on what you want at a conscious level you are leaving out two-thirds of the equation!
That’s right, your mind has 3 levels:
- Conscious
- Subconscious
- Superconscious
In order for an idea to be accepted and acted upon, it must be in harmony with what you believe consciously, SUB-consciously, and SUPER-consciously! In other words, to succeed with the law of attraction, you need to automatically harmonize your conscious and subconscious mind with the power of self hypnosis!
